Snow Bike Festival Gstaad

The fourth edition of the Snow Bike Festival, a 4-day mountain bike stage race, will once again take place in Gstaad.

The world’s first UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) race on snow sees professional mountain bikers and aspiring amateurs from around the world head to the trails and slopes around Gstaad, to compete in one of the most unique mountain biking environments in the world.

The event allows mountain bikers, fatbikers and all other cycling enthusiasts to experience four incredible days of biking in the snow.

Château-d’Oex will be the venue for the International Hot-Air Balloon Festival for the 40th time.

More than 70 balloons from many different countries will benefit from the special microclimate and climb into the sky.

Freeridedays

The Glacier 3000 freeride and ski area is located between Gstaad and Les Diablerets and ranges in altitude from 1150 to over 3000 metres above sea level. The area, which includes 10 installations and 28 km. of ski runs, has several runs to choose from for each experience level. Therefore, the heart of every freeride fan will beat even faster. Let some of the best Pro Riders in Europe and highly-experienced mountain guides introduce you to the world of freeriding. A special highlight will be the abseiling over 80 m during a run.

After freeriding, it’s time to celebrate at the Party Village by the Cabane middle station and in Les Diablerets (Restaurant Bar «Chez Lacroix»). Later on in the evening. DJ with good music and great drinks at the bar and lounge make a great party. Delicious pasta invites you to stay longer and gives you the energy to rock on into the early morning hours!

You can also watch the spectacular show sessions up close, wingsuit and acro paragliding combine great powder with alpine air. The show also includes freeriding and speedflying.

Ladies Championship Gstaad - Women's tennis tournament WTA 201

For more than 100 years, Gstaad welcomes one of the biggest sporting events of Switzerland, the J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad. Grand Chelem Event, the current organizer of the ATP-Event returns women’s tennis to Sannenland and thus brings back to life a long tradition of the Gstaad tournament. 

From 1917 to 1983 famous names of the women’s tennis world played in Gstaad like Margaret Smith Court, who holds the record of Grand Slam titles. 

The new clay-court tournament will take place one week before the J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad. During these two weeks, Gstaad will become the Swiss capital of tennis. The matches will be played in the same stadium. Additional infrastructures for the female players, who play for 226’750$ prize money, will be provided.

«J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad» 2018

The «J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad» is not only the only ATP tournament on clay played in Switzerland, but it is also unique in the world for its environment. Since more than 100years, the elite of tennis fights for victory in the middle of this charming mountain village, surrounded by cottages and fields.

Stefan Edberg, llie Nastase and Roger Federer have already engraved their names among the winners of the tournament. The biggest player of all time was also awarded his first wildcard on the ATP circuit in Gstaad before becoming world n°1. In 2013 he came back to the Bernese Oberland for the biggest pleasure of the spectators.

11th Glacier 3000 run

Traditional mountain run, 26 km:
The attractive race course begins at the Gstaad Promenade at approx. 1050 meters and ends up at Glacier 3000, situated almost 3000 meters above sea level. This is an altitude gain of about 2000 meters. The Glacier 3000 race will be a true challenge for all participants. The first part of the race is mostly run on even ground. Thereafter, the course gets steeper as the terrain goes from a soft forest trail to alpine hiking trails and finishes up by going over snow and finally over the glacial ice. A participation in the course is possible in the categories Single, 2-Team or Alpine Nordic Walking.

Glacier 3000 – Swiss Freeski Tour 2017/18

The national free ski tour starts on the snow this year too on Glacier 3000. The Swiss free ski family and foreign competitors meet at the glacier to present their new tricks to the judges. 

With spectacular jumps the athletes battle it out at 3'000 metres above sea level for FIS points and the best score sheet. The Swiss free ski tour stop at Glacier 3000 starts the season for the national Swiss free ski tour, which includes twelve one-day or two-day contests this year. 

Live there, when the free skiers show off their tricks before the unique backdrop of the mountains. Qualification takes place in the morning before the best ones compete for places on the podium in the afternoon. 

The reserve date is 21 November 2017.
